2 Chances For Snow Accumulation This Weekend In MD: Forecasters
Multiple fronts passing through the Baltimore region before temperatures plummet bring two chances for accumulating snow, forecasters said.
Two winter storm fronts will bring separate chances for accumulating snow to the greater Baltimore area this weekend, according to forecasters.
While the overall likelihood of significant accumulation is low, there is a possibility of some depending on the track of the storms.
The first front will arrive overnight Friday into the early morning hours of Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. The greatest chance of snow for the Baltimore area will be during the overnight hours, with scattered snow showers possible on Saturday morning before switching to rain through early afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, forecasted temperatures combined with dry air will likely limit snow accumulations to a dusting in most areas, if any accumulation occurs at all.
The most likely locations to see around an inch of snow or more are along Parr's Ridge to the Maryland/Pennsylvania border, and from the Catoctins to around the Hagerstown area.

A second front will arrive from the coast on early Sunday morning before moving north Sunday night into Monday morning.
“The storm is expected to move quickly up the East Coast," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dan Pydynowski said in the agency's latest forecast. "Its exact track will determine how far north snow spreads and whether coastal communities see accumulations or just a brief burst of snow."
The greatest chance of snow for the Baltimore area will be during the day on Sunday, forecasters said. Areas to the southeast of Interstate 95 are more likely to see additional accumulation.

Regardless of final accumulation, even brief periods of snow could create slick roads, particularly on bridges and overpasses, leading to travel delays.
Temperatures are expected to plummet to 24 degrees overnight Sunday with wind chills as cold as 0. The cold will persist into Monday night with possible wind chills near -10 degrees.
Any accumulation near Interstate 95 cities could also disrupt commuting and airport operations at the start of the new week.
