Flood Warning Issued For Multiple Maryland Areas, Streams

BREAKING: During the flood warning, do not drive into water of unknown depth; turn around, don't drown.

BALTIMORE, MD -- A flood warning is in effect from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 2. The warning area includes several jurisdictions in central Maryland, from Montgomery to Harford counties.

Thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rain were detected by radar at 4:25 p.m., officials said, and those storms may cause flooding. According to the National Weather Service, 2 inches of rain has already fallen, and small streams may overflow their banks. Because the ground is already saturated, it cannot absorb the rain. Runoff may cause small creeks, streams, urban areas, underpasses, highways and low-lying areas to flood, weather officials warn.

A flood warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. Drivers who come across water-covered roads should turn around; don't drown.
