Founder of TED, Richard Saul Wurman, To Speak In Baltimore

SHIFT, a Baltimore headquartered consulting, executive membership, and venture capital company, will welcome Richard Saul Wurman, founder of TED, as the keynote speaker for its third annual leadership event, SHIFT U.

This year’s theme, Complicated Conversations, offers guests a forum to discuss engaging topics such as morality, mortality, technology and innovation. Joe Mechlinski, CEO and founder of SHIFT, will emcee the event as guests hear from national thought leaders and participate in two debates designed to help them strengthen conversation skills, learn new communications tactics and understand diverse perspectives.

The program, hosted in Baltimore’s historic Parkway Theatre, will run from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. on October 24th.

The speakers for SHIFT U | Complicated Conversations are:

• Richard Saul Wurman, founder of TED, will share his perspective on mortality, the importance of adopting a practical outlook on our inevitable fates, and what new life we can gain from understanding death.

• Steven Kotler, one of the world’s leading experts in human performance and New York Times bestselling author, will explore the complexities of morality and how technology is reshaping human behavior, masking our empathy and creating a reactive culture.

• Chris Wilson, a serial social entrepreneur, artist, and author of The Master Plan, will share how he dedicated his life after prison to helping poverty-stricken communities.

The SHIFT U guest experience will also feature opportunities to network with more than 150 business professionals, receive complimentary SHIFT merchandise, and sample products from local vendors.
