Free Comic Book Day 2018: How To Get Yours In Baltimore

Here's how you can score free comics Saturday in Baltimore during Free Comic Book Day 2018.

BALTIMORE, MD — Free Comic Book Day is Saturday, and several Baltimore stores are participating in the event. Publishers print special issues to be given away at participating comic book stores, libraries and museums on the first Saturday in May.

The event, which has been held since 2002, usually coincides with the weekend opening of a superhero-centric movie as part of an effort to harness momentum from the fiercely popular films. Some stores expect to see about 1,000 visitors.

These are the Baltimore area stores participating in Free Comic Book Day:

  • Amazing Spiral
    • 5851 York Road, Baltimore, MD 21202
    • Block party from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 5
    • Cosplayers, door prizes, sales and signings
  • Atomic Books
    • 3620 Falls Road, Baltimore, MD 21211
    • Festivities 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 5
    • There will be a mini comics convention with members of Bmore Into Comics signing and selling their comics. The store is also debuting its 10th annual free comic day comic, Mutant #9. There will be a 25 percent off sale, $5 mimosas and free bowls of cereal while supplies last. Saturday morning cartoons will be playing all day.
