Harbor Tunnel Reopens After Tractor-Trailer Closes Tube
A tractor-trailer became disabled in the Harbor Tunnel, closing it to traffic in one direction briefly Friday afternoon, officials said.

BALTIMORE, MD — A disabled tractor-trailer brought traffic to a standstill midday Friday in the area of the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel. Interstate 895 south was closed at the tunnel for more than 30 minutes so crews could clear the vehicle, which had gotten stuck inside the tube, the Maryland Transportation Authority reported.
While crews worked to clear the vehicle, backups built to Lombard Street, according to transportation officials.
By 12:45 p.m., officials said I-895 had opened to southbound traffic in the tunnel.

Officer just told me they’re going to open the left lane of SB 895 in The Harbor Tunnel. We’ve been in here for about an hour. NB lanes are open per @TheMDTA. There was a vehicle fire about a half mile up from where I am. We are about a mile into the tunnel. @WMAR2News pic.twitter.com/Lf3svswJLL
