House Fire Kills 2 In Northwest Baltimore, Officials Say

Seven people were inside a home where fire broke out Friday in Windsor Hills in northwest Baltimore, city fire officials reported.

BALTIMORE, MD — Two people died in a house fire in northwest Baltimore Friday morning, according to the Baltimore City Fire Department.

The blaze broke out at a two-story home in the 2800 block of Lawina Road after 2 a.m., fire officials said.

Seven people inside the house were brought out by firefighters. Of those, officials reported that two were pronounced deceased; four were in critical condition; and one refused treatment.

One person had been on the second floor and six were on the first floor at the time the fire broke out at the residence, which fire officials said had been operating as "Kozy Kottage," an assisted living facility.

The fire was declared under control just after 3:30 a.m., according to officials, who were still investigating the cause of the blaze.

The identities of the deceased were not immediately available.
