Man Shot In Face After Trying To Stab Baltimore Security Guard With Syringe
The shooting happened in Baltimore after the guard confronted the man for shoplifting, according to police.

BALTIMORE, MD — A man was shot in the face Friday after he attempted to stab a security guard with a syringe as the guard confronted him for shoplifting, according to Baltimore police, authorities said.
Police were called to the 600 block of Exeter Street shortly after 9 a.m. for a reported shooting. When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound to the face.
An early investigation revealed the man was trying to steal from the store, according to police. When he was confronted by a security guard as he tried to leave with the merchandise, the man pulled out a syringe and attempted to stab the guard, police said.

The guard reached for his gun and fired, striking the man in the face, police said.
The man was taken to a hospital and is in critical condition, according to police. Authorities did not identify the man.
