Maryland MEP holds ‘Cheers to Gears’ event at Itaberco in Baltimore

The Maryland Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MD MEP), a non-profit committed to growing and strengthening Maryland manufacturing, held its Make it in Maryland program’s latest ‘Cheers to Gears’ event on Thursday, November 17, at Itaberco, Inc., in Baltimore.

Itaberco is a solution driven company manufacturing high quality dessert ingredients which are used for Ice Cream, Gelato, Yogurt, Soft-Serve, Sweet Drinks, Pastries, and more. Itaberco also manufactures decadent toppings, variegates and décor products. Itaberco’s high-end manufacturing facility is also capable of services such as private labeling and product customization.

The Make it in Maryland program is Maryland’s first and only program dedicated to manufacturers within the state, to showcase companies, demonstrate the value of manufacturing within Maryland and highlight manufacturing successes.

The Make it in Maryland Program’s ‘Cheers to Gears’ events are hosted monthly by Make it in Maryland Program members, with the ultimate goal of providing invested manufacturing companies with an opportunity to experience new facilities, network with and learn more about their Make It In Maryland counterparts.

During Thursday’s ‘Cheers to Gears’ event guest were treated to a special presentation by Itaberco Vice President, Berj Ghazarian, as well as an opportunity to screen various ingredient base flavors, tour the manufacturing facility, taste delicious Itaberco products, and network with peers. “We thoroughly enjoyed hosting the Cheers to Gears event for the month of November. It gave us an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with other manufacturers in a casual and relaxed setting. Every Cheers to Gears event has in one way or another lead us to a beneficial connection with other members and we look forward to attending more of these events in the future” said, Ghazarian.

An array of Maryland manufacturers were in attendance, including Make it in Maryland program members Holmatro, Tulkoff Food Products, Fashions Unlimited, Gable, Irvin H. Hahn, and Strategic Factory. Also attending the event were the Baltimore Development Corp. and Baltimore Business Journal.

“Thursday’s ‘Cheers to Gears’ event at Itaberco was a great success, with new members of our various programs in attendance including long-time Make it in Maryland member businesses,” said Mike Kelleher, Chief Operating Officer of MD MEP. “These events provide a great opportunity for local manufacturers to meet, network and see how companies like Itaberco are thriving in the State of Maryland.”
