Maryland Weekend Weather Forecast: A Pleasant Mother's Day Brunch

BALTIMORE, MD — Mother's Day weekend starts off gloomy in Maryland, not much of a present for moms hoping to garden, ride a bike or take the kids to a park. Rains on Friday and Saturday will potentially cause some flooding in streams and rivers, according to a National Weather Service hazardous weather outlook. "Extra runoff from already saturated soil may cause localized flooding of small streams and creeks," the warning said.

If you plan on traveling for the weekend, it's important to know that rain will continue through Saturday. Look for highs in the upper 50s and winds around 10 miles per hour. A half-inch to three-quarters of an inch of precipitation is possible.

On Mother's Day, though, the skies will clear for a pleasant day. A clear morning will facilitate a nice Mother's Day brunch, then the afternoon will see a slight chance of rain. Expect a high temperature near 70 degrees, but gusts of winds as high as 26 miles per hour.

Saturday: Rain, mainly before 5pm. High near 57. North wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Saturday Night: A chance of rain, mainly before 8pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 49. North wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday: A slight chance of showers after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 70. West wind 7 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 53.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 71.
