MD Coronavirus Hospitalizations Climb Again After Record Day

More than 3,000 cases of the virus in Maryland were confirmed daily since Friday, data shows, as hospital patients increase.

MARYLAND — Again the state has set a record high for coronavirus hospitalizations.

The Maryland Department of Health reported Monday 1,957 people with the coronavirus were hospitalized.

Both acute and intensive care units (ICUs) are at 90 percent capacity in Baltimore City.

ICUs are at 83.3 percent capacity in Montgomery County hospitals, while Prince George's County is at 44.8 ICU capacity. Garrett County is at 53 percent hospital bed occupancy.

Cases Increasing

For the fourth day in a row, the single-day increase in new coronavirus cases confirmed is greater than 3,000 in Maryland.

Maryland is vaccinating residents in phases, starting with health care workers, nursing home residents, nursing home staff, first responders and public safety personnel.
