MD Coronavirus: More Than 1K Deaths Attributed To COVID-19
Nearly 900 people in the past day have tested positive for the new coronavirus, the Maryland Department of Health reported Thursday.

MARYLAND — More than 1,000 people in Maryland have died from COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, state health officials reported Thursday morning. The virus has taken the lives of 1,047 Marylanders, with test results pending from another 93 people for whom COVID-19 was listed as a cause of death on their death certificates, according to authorities.
With the addition of 893 new confirmed cases in the past day, the Maryland Department of Health is reporting 21,742 people in Maryland have tested positive for the virus, while 92,617 have tested negative.
Residents and staff at nursing homes and congregate living facilities account for nearly 22 percent of Maryland's coronavirus cases and more than 49 percent of its deaths, based on Thursday's data.

Statewide more than 1,700 people are currently hospitalized with the virus as of Thursday morning.
