2 Killed In MTA Bus Crash On Patapsco Avenue: Police

Police said 10 people were hospitalized and two died after a collision between a car and a bus on Patapsco Avenue Friday night.

BALTIMORE, MD — Two people died as the result of a crash between a sedan and an MTA bus Friday afternoon on Patapsco Avenue, according to police. The names of the deceased were not released.

Police said the crash occurred at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22. A Hyundai had been headed south in the 800 block of West Patapsco Avenue when it collided with the bus, investigators said.

Four people inside the car and eight people from the bus were taken to area hospitals, according to officials. A man and woman from the Hyundai sedan died at the hospital, police reported.

Of the surviving 10 people who were hospitalized, officials said their injuries were believed to be non-life-threatening.

Patapsco Avenue was closed from Annapolis Road to Potee Street until after 7 p.m.

Detectives from the Baltimore Police CRASH Team are investigating the collision, with assistance from the MTA Police Department.

PREVIOUS REPORT — A crash involving an MTA bus is causing delays off West Patapsco Avenue Friday evening in south Baltimore, according to police. The Baltimore Police Department said that a spokesperson was heading to the scene of the collision.

Drivers should anticipate delays in the 800 block of West Patapsco Avenue, police reported before 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22.

The crash between the bus and a car happened before 5 p.m. and resulted in several people, possibly 10, being hospitalized, according to WBAL, which was live near the Patapsco light rail station.
