MTA Launches New 'Gift Of Transit' CharmCard
The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration introduced the card Monday.

BALTIMORE, MD — Just in time for the holidays, the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration has launched the "Gift of Transit" CharmCard. The card, inspired by an employee suggestion, was introduced Monday.
CharmCards are reloadable, smart fare cards embedded with a computer chip to keep track of the cash value on each card. Once purchased and loaded with funds, cards can be registered to a friend and family member through the MDOT MTA website. The cards allow riders to “tap and go” when paying transit fares on Local Bus, Light RailLink and Metro SubwayLink.
The CharmCard will be offered at the MDOT MTA Transit Store at 6 St. Paul St. in Baltimore, and at select retail outlets.
