Murder Of Taylor Hayes: Suspect Arrested, Police Say

Police said there has been an arrest in the case of the 7-year-old girl killed in southwest Baltimore.

BALTIMORE, MD — Police said a man was arrested and charged in the murder of 7-year-old Taylor Hayes, and his girlfriend was charged as an accessory. The child died on July 19 as the result of a gunshot wound.

Hayes was shot while sitting in the back of a car in Baltimore near Edmondson Avenue on July 5, and she was hospitalized for two weeks at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center before she died.

The man charged in her death was taken into custody in Anne Arundel County, police said, and was in the process of being brought to Baltimore Friday afternoon.

Keon Gray, 29, was charged with murder and related offenses; his girlfriend, Daneka McDonald, 35, was charged as an accessory after the fact, officials reported.

"All the killing's gotta stop," the mother of Taylor Hayes said at a press conference Friday afternoon held by the Baltimore Police Department to announce the arrest. "I'll never see my child again, ever."
