Nearly 37,000 COVID Vaccines Given Daily In Maryland: Hogan

As of March 10, Maryland providers had administered 1,653,670 doses of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, Gov. Larry Hogan's office reports.

MARYLAND — Maryland is in Phase 1C of its coronavirus vaccine distribution plan, which prioritizes all residents age 65 and older, as well as critical workers in high-risk settings. Providers are administering an average of 36,992 doses per day, Gov. Larry Hogan's office said Wednesday.

With 389,566 confirmed coronavirus cases in Maryland since the pandemic first broke out and 7,820 deaths, it's imperative that the state continues to plow ahead with vaccinating its residents, Hogan said in the news release.

As of March 10, Maryland providers have now administered 1,653,670 doses of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines with 97.8 percent of all first doses and 83.9 percent of total doses received from the federal government administered.

Starting next week, the state will set aside at least 300 priority appointments per day, a total of 2,100 per week, for people on the Prince George’s County pre-registration list at the Six Flags America mass vaccination site. This is an increase from 500 appointments per week that have been reserved for county residents since the site opened in early February.

The western Maryland mass vaccination site in Hagerstown will open one week early on March 25. This will give the state at least one mass vaccination site in each region. The state is in active discussions with jurisdictions that have expressed an interest in hosting a mass vaccination site, Hogan's office noted.

In an effort to help Marylanders gain easier access to the vaccine, more than 275 providers are now listed on covidvax.maryland.gov, a one-stop shop for finding providers. Vaccinations are by appointment only.

A telephone-based support line also is available for residents without internet access who need help finding providers and making appointments for mass vaccination sites. The COVID-19 Vaccination Support Center reachable at 1-855-MDGOVAX (1-855-634-6829) is available seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
