New Officers and Board Members Elected at Maryland Science Center

At its annual meeting, the Board of Trustees of the Maryland Academy of Sciences and the Maryland Science Center elected new officers and board members. David Amy, Vice Chairman of Sinclair Broadcast Group., Inc., was elected Chairman of the Board, succeeding Mark Huston, Chairman since 2014.David Amy served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees for three years and as a Trustee for nine years.

Shawn Abrams, Partner at Arsenal Capital Partners, was elected Vice Chairman of the Board, after serving four years as a Trustee.In addition, Richard M. Ivey, Worldwide Vice President of Research and Development at BD Diagnostics, was elected to the board.

Completing the final phase of our $7.5 million capital campaign assures us that the Maryland Science Center will support the next generation of thinkers, innovators and leaders. (“Sinclair”) since January 2017. Prior to this position, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Sinclair. In addition, he serves as Secretary of Sinclair Television Group, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary that owns and operates Sinclair’s broadcasting operations. Mr. Amy received his MBA degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
