HUNT VALLEY, MD — A year ago, Marylanders took to social media to proclaim their love for a snack they never knew they needed: Old Bay seasoned Goldfish snack crackers.

Now, after fervent fan requests and pleas on Twitter, McCormick & Co. and Pepperidge Farm have teamed up to re-release the fish-shaped cracker featuring Old Bay's signature blend of 18 herbs and spices that's a mainstay on seafood and other dishes, according to a news release.

"Our fans made it clear — they love this flavor and wanted it back," Janda Lukin, chief marketing officer of Campbell Snacks, said in a statement. "I'm excited to say they're back, and this time accompanied by the love ballad they deserve."

That's right. Simply re-releasing the snack wasn't enough to pay homage to "the greatest snack to ever grace my tongue," according to one fan's social media post. Instead, McCormick teamed up with '90s pop star Lisa Loeb to recreate her 1994 hit, "Stay (I Missed You)."

The parody — aptly titled "Stay (We Missed You Old Bay Goldfish)" — mixes lyrics from Loeb's original version with actual tweets and social media posts by fans of the seasoned snack.

With or without the love ballad, many Marylanders would likely say it's hard to resist a snack featuring the state's iconic Old Bay seasoning. For more than 75 years, Old Bay has been used on nearly everything, including french fries, popcorn, clam chowder and even in vodka.

Old Bay seasoned Goldfish are available in stores nationwide while supplies last, according to a news release. The snack will sell for a suggested retail price of $3.69 per 6.6 oz bag, the company said.

As of Friday, the product was sold out online, but you can check the McCormick site for updates and to place orders.
