One Night, One Purpose
The ALS Association – DC/MD/VA Chapter and Brigance Brigade Foundation Join Together To Help Relieve The Burden Of ALS
The Segalman family of Baltimore, MD has partnered with The ALS Association – DC/MD/VA Chapter and Brigance Brigade Foundation to sponsor a cocktail reception on May 4th to support the fight against ALS. The “One Night, One Purpose” event is the first collaboration between the ALS Association and the Brigance Brigade Foundation, in order to further the joint purpose to relieve the burden that ALS has on individuals and their family members. ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. It is estimated there are more than 20,000 Americans are affected by ALS.
“Paula Kovarick Segalman Family Scholarship Fund” is the first academic scholarship of its kind and was created in 2015 to honor the life of Paula Segalman and those who have lost their lives to this devastating disease. The Scholarship is awarded to a student each year who has/had a parent or guardian affected by this disease. The cost of care for someone with ALS can exceed $250,000 a year. The fund looks to alleviate some of the additional financial burdens that families will face when paying for college. Dr. Keith Segalman is a member of the Board of Directors for The ALS Association – DC/MD/VA Chapter.
All proceed from the event will benefit the Paula Kovarick Segalman Family Scholarship Fund for ALS and patient services provided by The ALS Association – DC/MD/VA Chapter and Brigance Brigade Foundation. The evening will include food, drinks, live entertainment, and a silent auction. A special viewing of the Kentucky Derby will also take place.
