Robbery Rate In Baltimore Is Highest In US: Study
Data from the FBI show that Baltimore is the city in America with the highest robbery rate, according to a new analysis.
BALTIMORE, MD โ An analysis of FBI crime data shows that people are robbed more in Baltimore than any other city in America. The study was put out this month by ADT security provider YourLocalSecurity.com.
Robbery occurs when someone takes or tries to take anything of value from a person by force, fear or threat of violence, based on the FBI's definition.
The estimated robbery rate nationwide was 9.8 per 10,000 inhabitants in 2017, the latest year for which data was available from the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting program.

Baltimore City's robbery rate is 95.87 for every 10,000, according to an analysis of the data by YourLocalSecurity.com, which said that Charm City had the nation's highest robbery rate in the U.S.

Nationally, FBI data showed that $1,373 was the average amount an individual lost in a robbery.
Robbers used strong-arm tactics in 41.5 percent of robberies, firearms in 40.6 percent and knives/cutting instruments in 8.1 percent of robberies around the country.
