South Point to open at West Covington Park in Port Covington

Waterfront Entertainment Venue to host wellness series on Thursdays, offer South American inspired barbecue all weekend

The Port Covington Development Team today announced it will open a new waterfront seasonal venue, South Point, at West Covington Park in Port Covington. Operated by Weller Entertainment, South Point will host an array of events for the community and its nonprofit partners beginning Thursday, July 26th.

Offering incredible waterfront views for epic sunsets and more, South Point will be one of Baltimore’s go-to spaces to enjoy the outdoor season. Every weekend at South Point will feature great drinks, healthy and delicious food, music, and fun for the whole family, including pets. Located next to City Garage, South Point also has the advantage of plentiful free parking onsite.

Every Thursday, South Point will host Waterfront Wellness. Led by Baltimore-based FX Well, the series includes FLOW Yoga and Total Body Bootcamp, two classes focused on fitness for all levels. The Bootcamp will utilize onsite fitness equipment recently installed by the Port Covington Development Team, a portion of the Port Covington bike path, and the beautiful open greenspaces along the waterfront of West Covington Park. Following classes will be The Paleo Party featuring healthy grill specials, cocktails, and music. The event series kickoff for Waterfront Wellness on July 26th is free with advance registration. For classes on Thursdays in August, tickets will be $10 and include class and a sponsor beverage from Wild Kombucha, Dogfish Head Brewery, or Ava Grace Vineyards.

A grand opening party will be held on Saturday, July 28th

South Point, located at 101 W. Cromwell Street, will be open from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., weekly on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. West Covington Park is open every day, from dawn until dusk.

“West Covington Park, with its amazing waterfront view, is one of the most beautiful slices of open space in the city,” said Marc Weller, partner of Weller Development Company, the lead developer of Port Covington. “We’re thrilled to activate South Point and create a place for people to come and enjoy great music, food, drink and company.”

Earlier this month, Weller Development announced the launch of Weller Entertainment to activate and manage community-driven programming across Port Covington, celebrating local organizations from the Maryland SPCA to Baltimore City Schools. The diverse program has included everything from entrepreneurial panel discussions to festivals featuring in-demand musical acts including Talib Kweli and Matisyahu.
With South Point, Weller Entertainment has established an ongoing home for weekend events in Port Covington.

In addition to its regular programming on weekends, South Point will also be available to rent Sunday through Wednesday for private corporate functions and retreats. For corporate sales, contact Chip Watkins at cwatkins@wellerdevco.com.
