Suspected Puppy Killer Wanted for 17 Counts of Animal Cruelty: Baltimore Police

A man from south Baltimore allegedly killed four puppies because they were making noise then threw them away in a dumpster, police said.

BALTIMORE, MD — A Brooklyn man is wanted in connection with four puppies who died as the result of animal cruelty, according to the Baltimore Police Department.

There is a warrant out for the arrest of Donald Yearwood, 21, charging him with 17 counts of animal cruelty and abuse, police said Friday.

Officials said they were called to a house in the 3700 block of 10th Street, where witnesses reported seeing Yearwood kill the puppies in front of several young children, at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9.

Yearwood had been trying to sleep and the puppies were making noise, so he stomped on and kicked them, threw them down a flight of stairs, put them in a box and left, witnesses told police.

Hours later, at 8 p.m., police were called after four puppies were found in a dumpster by a group of children in the 1200 block of Cambria Street.

When police arrived, three puppies were pronounced deceased and a fourth was taken to an animal hospital, where officials said he later died.

Surveillance footage, posted below, showed Yearwood putting something in the dumpster.

Animal control officers were familiar with the residence where Yearwood lived before the Nov. 9 calls.

Authorities said that they were called to the house in October after a child was bitten by the mother dog and suffered minor injuries.

Police reported they confiscated the dog and her six puppies while they were there. The puppies were about one week old at the time, on Oct. 22, and animal control officers did not know that there were four more puppies in the house, according to police.

The puppies and their mother remain at a shelter, police said Friday. A photograph of the surviving puppies is below.

There is an arrest warrant out for Yearwood. Anyone who knows where Yearwood may be located is asked to call 911 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
