Tastykake Cupcakes Recalled In MD Because Of Metal Fragments: FDA

MARYLAND — The maker of Tastykake cupcakes has voluntarily recalled some of the snacks because they may be contaminated with “tiny fragments of metal mesh wire.”

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Flower Foods began the recall after the company was notified by a vendor of the possible contamination in a cupcake ingredient.

No injuries have been reported.

The recalled cupcakes were distributed to retailers in Maryland, as well as Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia.

The recalled products are:

• Tastykake Chocolate Cupcakes, 12.75 ounces, two-count packs, six in a box, UPC number 0-25600-00219-3, and “enjoy by” dates of Dec. 14, 18 and 21.
• Tastykake Creme Filled Chocolate Cupcakes, 14.25 ounces, two-count packs, six in a box, UPC number 0-25600-00223-0, and “enjoy by” dates of Dec. 14 and 18.
• Tastykake Buttercreme Iced Creme Filled Chocolate Cupcakes, 14.74 ounces, two-count packs, six in a box, UPC number 0-25600-00230-8, and “enjoy by” dates of Dec. 14 and 18.
• Tastykake Buttercreme Iced Creme Filled Chocolate Cupcakes, sold individually, UPC number 0-25600-00004-5, and “enjoy by” date of Dec. 18.
• Tastykake Butterscotch Krimpets, 12 ounces, two-count packs, six in a box, UPC number 0-25600-00227-8, and “enjoy by” dates of Nov. 24 and Dec. 1.
• Tastykake Buttercreme Iced Creme Filled Chocolate Cupcakes, 14.25 ounces, two-count packs, six in a box, inner packages sold individually, UPC number 0-25600-00230-8 and 0-25600-00004-5, and “enjoy by” dates of Dec. 18.
• Tastykake Creme Filled Krimpets, 14.25 ounces, two-count packs, six in a box, UPC number 0-25600-00227-8 and "enjoy by" dates of Nov. 24, Dec. 1.
• Tastykake Creme Filled Krimpets, 2 ounce two count, inner packages sold individually, UPC number 0-25600-00083-0 and "enjoy by" dates of Nov. 24, Dec. 1.
• Tastykake Creme Filled Krimpets, 14.25 ounces, two-count packes, six in a box, UPC number 0-25600-00355-8, and "enjoy by" dates of Nov. 20, 24 and 27.
• Tastykake Jelly Krimpets, 12 ounces, two-count packs, six in a box, UPC number 0-25600-00228-5, and "enjoy by" dates of Nov. 22, 25 and 29.
• Tastykake Butterscotch Krimpets (Club Pack), 24 ounces, two-count packs, 12 in a box, UPC number 0-25600-00396-1, and "enjoy by" dates of Nov. 24, Dec. 1.
• Tastykake Butterscotch Krimpets, 3 ounces, three-count packs, UPC number 0-25600-00002-1, and "enjoy by" dates of Nov. 27, Dec. 1 and 8.
• Tastykake Jelly Krimpets, 3 ounces, three-count packs, UPC number 0-25600-00025-0, and "enjoy by" date of Nov. 25.

The cupcakes can be returned to the place of purchase for a refund.
