BALTIMORE, MD — Police are searching for two suspects in connection with a shooting at a Baltimore shopping center that killed an Edmonson Westside High School student and injured four others, authorities confirmed.

The shooting happened Wednesday just before 11:20 a.m. at Edmondson Village Shopping Center, Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison said during a news conference. According to authorities, five teenage boys were on lunch break from school and had gathered outside Popeye's restaurant when two shooters opened fire on the group.

Both suspects fled behind the building following the shooting, police said.

The other three victims were treated at Sinai Hospital, police said.

Baltimore City Public School confirmed the victims were all students at Edmonson Westside High School. The school was placed on lockdown as police investigated the shooting, and all Thursday classes were canceled, according to a letter obtained by WBAL.

School officials said counseling would be available to staff and students.

Authorities did not release a description of the suspects.

"What we're looking for is video, witnesses and anything that would tell us how this happened, why this happened and who is responsible," Harrison said.
