Under Armour Athlete and Collegiate Lacrosse Star Taylor Cummings Joins Zaching Against Cancer Foundation as Ambassador
Former UMD Terrapins' Midfielder to Represent the Organization in an Effort to Raise Awareness and Support Families with Cancer
The Zaching Against Cancer Foundation, a local nonprofit organization that provides support, strength, inspiration and positive influences to cancer patients and their support networks, today announced that Taylor Cummings, award-winning former midfielder for the University of Maryland Women’s Lacrosse team and Founder of Taylor Cummings Lacrosse, will serve as an official ambassador for the Foundation. In this role, Cummings will utilize her passion for the cause and public voice to raise awareness and funds for the organization, and work to help further their mission of fulfilling Zachary’s vision to help and inspire others.
“The Zaching Against Cancer Foundation is fighting for a cause near and dear to my heart and I couldn’t be more excited to partner with this great team and work to help families who are battling cancer,” said Cummings. “While I never met Zach, we knew the same people and attended the same school; I remember his incredible strength and passion, which was always an inspiration to me. It means so much to me that I can now stand by his family and help them continue his mission.”
As a Zaching Against Cancer Foundation ambassador, Cummings will donate her time and influence to support the organization in various ways, including but not limited to: raising awareness throughout the community, attending events and helping to create events to engage the lacrosse community and acting as the Chairperson of the Friends of Zach group - a special group created to engage young professionals who would like to be involved with the organization.

“The Zaching Against Cancer Foundation team is grateful to have Taylor on board to help spread our message and engage young professionals with the Foundation’s mission,” said Executive Director of the Zaching Against Cancer Foundation, and Zachary Lederer’s father, John Lederer. “Taylor has accomplished so much as a young athlete and we are proud to have her name associated with Zachary’s organization. We know she will put her whole heart into keeping Zachary’s dream alive and we look forward to the contributions she will make towards the Foundation.”
Cummings, a graduate of the McDonogh School and the University of Maryland, is regarded as one of the best female collegiate lacrosse players in the country. She is the first-ever three-time Tewaaraton Award Winner (2014, 2015 & 2016) and helped the Terps win two national championships during her time with the team (2014 & 2015). Since graduating, Cummings has founded Taylor Cummings Lacrosse, become a member of Team USA training team, joined forces with Under Armour to become an Under Armour athlete and has become a member of the Baltimore Ride in the United Women’s Lacrosse League. While playing on the field is still an important part of Cummings’ life, she has now made the transition to teacher and coach also.

About Zaching Against Cancer Foundation:
The Zaching Against Cancer Foundation (ZACF) provides support, strength, inspiration and positive influences to cancer patients and their support networks through scholarships, support services, research and outreach. Created in 2013 by former University of Maryland student Zachary Lederer and his parents, John and Chris Lederer, ZACF works to fulfill Zachary’s mission of #livingthedream by inspiring and helping others in his memory. During his fight, he created the viral sensation that would come to be known as “Zaching” by striking the strongman pose in a photo taken after his brain surgery. “Zaching” became known across the nation as a sign of strength of hope and was spread by friends, family, celebrities, cancer patients and athletes alike.
