Washington Monument Lighting 2019: Road Closures, Time

The monument in Mount Vernon will be lit up this week, requiring some road closures in the area.

BALTIMORE, MD — The Washington Monument will be illuminated Wednesday in midtown Baltimore. The rain-or-shine event is from 5 to 8 p.m. in Mount Vernon.

To prepare, several streets will be closed, with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • West Mount Vernon Place from North Charles to Cathedral streets (6 p.m. Wednesday to 11:59 p.m. Thursday)
  • East Mount Vernon Place from North Charles to Saint Paul streets (9 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Thursday)
  • Charles Street from Centre to Madison streets (9 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Thursday)

Drivers are strongly encouraged to take alternate routes and to be on the lookout for pedestrians in Mount Vernon.
