Washington Monument Lighting In Baltimore To Cause Road Closures
Festivities in historic Mount Vernon will start at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6.

From Baltimore Transportation: The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists of the temporary road closures which will be implemented for the annual lighting of the Washington Monument. The event will be held on Thursday, December 06, 2018, rain or shine. Festivities in historic Mount Vernon will start at 5:00 p.m.
In preparation for the event, the following streets will be closed to through traffic on Thursday, December 06, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect:
- East Mt. Vernon Place from N. Charles to St. Paul Streets
- North Charles Street from Centre to Madison Streets
- South side of Centre Street from Cathedral to N. Calvert Streets
- West Mt. Vernon Place from N. Charles to Cathedral Streets – closed 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 05, 2018 through 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, December 06, 2018
Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians attending the event and are strongly encouraged to use alternate routes.
