Water Rescues In East Baltimore Required: Fire Department

BALTIMORE, MD — Baltimore firefighters rescued multiple people trapped in flood waters in east Baltimore Monday, according to authorities.

Water rescues were conducted on North Point Road at Erdman Avenue, the Baltimore Fire Department reported after 12:15 p.m.

The Baltimore metro area is under a hazardous weather outlook due to showers and thunderstorms that could lead to flooding.

"Please stay clear of high flooding areas and don’t attempt to drive through," the Baltimore Fire Department said in a statement.

To conduct the rescues, firefighters deployed boats, according to the Baltimore Firefighters Union IAFF Local 734, which said people had tried to drive through a road that was flooded.

"Unless you are operating a boat, stay on the road and out of the water," the Baltimore firefighters union said in a statement.

When they come upon water-covered roads, drivers are encouraged to turn around; don't drown.
