Get Your Halloween Costume Ready for a Night of Baltimore Comedy

Spend Halloween with a trio of free improv comedy shows and party with the Baltimore Improv Group (BIG)

Spend your Halloween night at The BIG Theater with the Baltimore Improv Group (BIG). For 2019, Halloween falls on a Thursday evening. Catch three free Halloween themed comedy shows. End your night with a themed dance party where you can wear your costume or improvise one on the spot.

The Baltimore Improv Group (BIG) wants everyone in the Baltimore region to love improv. They encourage anyone to get involved and learn about art.

The BIG Theater opened in October 2017 on Charles Street in the Station North Arts & Entertainment District. The following May, they began offering free comedy shows every night. The nonprofit produces shows at the theater and teaches classes and workshops.

"Join us for 'The Haunting of BIG House' to learn local lore and possibly encounter some playful spirits," McKenna said. "Just like how there is a small divide between this life and the afterlife, there is a thin line between comedy and fear... "

McKenna started taking classes with Baltimore Improv Group in the summer of 2018. She likes to jump on stage or watch a show at the theater whenever possible.

At 8:30 pm on Halloween night, see BIG managing director Terry Withers in the comedy show Paranormal Comedy. Withers performs in the role of a professional astral projectionist. You'll see the character merge his ability to speak with the dead and improv comedy in a dark and funny show. At 9:30 pm, Not A Torture Room show gives you your late night Halloween scares.

Students from Maryland, Pennsylvania, DC and beyond attend improv comedy classes with BIG. BIG teaches Six sessions of Seven week Improv Classes for adults each year.

BIG also provides classes and workshops for kids and teens, and an Annual Improv Summer camp. They're also resident artists with Young Audiences of Maryland (YAMD). With YAMD they perform and teach improv in assemblies in schools across Maryland.

Halloween falls on October 31st this year. Find more information on the Baltimore Improv Group website at bigimprov.org.
