Where's The Best Mexican Restaurant In Maryland?

BALTIMORE, MD — We may have already celebrated National Taco Day earlier this month — although, really, when isn't it a good day for tacos — but the foodie website The Daily Meal has just released its rankings of the best Mexican restaurant in every state. The eateries recognized serve much more than tacos, from tasty chicken mole to homemade salsa to a fusion of traditional recipes from Mexico mashed-up with American tastes.

In order to find the best Mexican restaurant in every state, the editors checked their previous rankings, with city editors from across the country, reviewed local rankings, and researched review sites "to see which ones got the highest marks from in-the-know locals. We then judged each contender on quality of ingredients, skill in preparation, level of local renown, and authenticity. Some “fusion” was acceptable, but a focus on being as authentically Mexican as possible was key. We also gave humble taquerias the same consideration as fancy sit-down places and boisterous cantinas," Daily Meal says.

In Maryland, the title of Best Mexican Restaurant goes to Tortilleria Sinaloa, 1716 Eastern Ave. in Baltimore. The website says of the venue's food: "This perpetually packed restaurant is consistently drawing crowds for the homemade tortillas and fresh, plentiful fillings. Don’t miss the tamales, pozole, and special tilapia tacos with Old Bay butter sauce, but the menu’s standout is the al pastor, tender and flavorful with chunks of grilled pineapple mixed in."

The restaurant's website says its food is gluten free and its goal is to serve the tastiest and most affordable Mexican food in East Baltimore. "We’ve been around since in 2002 garnering accolades for our fresh tortillas, freshly made tacos, succulent guacamole and other menu items, just ask our customers and critics.
