Pilot Killed In Single Engine Plane Crash In Field Near Old Level Road: Fire Official
The pilot of a small plane was killed after the aircraft crashed into a field near Old Level Road, officials disclosed Tuesday night.
HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday night, a 911 call came in to Harford County Department of Emergency Services for a plane crash near the 3600 block of Old Level Road in Havre de Grace.
Within minutes, upwards of 40 firefighters and EMT from the Level Volunteer Fire Company, Aberdeen Fire Department, Inc., Susquehanna Hose Company, Aberdeen Proving Ground Fire & Emergency Services and Harford County Department of Emergency Services were dispatched but at first, they couldn't find the crash site, according to the Level Volunteer Fire Company.
After an intense and quick search, around 7:33 p.m., the wreckage of a single engine plane was found in an open field. The single occupant in the plane was pronounced dead on the scene. No one was injured on the ground.

Sandra Gallion, president of the Level Volunteer Fire company, spoke at a news conference about the incident. She said officials could not identify the pilot until next of kin had been identified.
"There are no indications that the plane caught on fire. There was damage to the plane (and) minimal damage to the ground," she said at the news conference.

Deputies from the Harford County Sheriffs Office were at the site providing scene security. Representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration also arrived on the scene and National Transportation Safety Board has been notified and will be investigating starting Wednesday.
