10 Displaced In Bel Air Townhome Fire, Damage Estimated At $1.25M

The fire in Hunters Run destroyed two homes and damaged another, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

BEL AIR, MD — A fire that spread to multiple townhouses in a Bel Air community Saturday night resulted in $1.25 million damage, officials reported Sunday. Ten people were displaced, according to the fire marshal. The cause of the Hunters Run townhouse blaze remains under investigation.

A neighbor discovered the fire in the 200 block of Hunters Run Terrace at 8:28 p.m., according to the fire marshal, who said about 60 firefighters responded and brought the fire under control in an hour.

The fire began in the back of one of the townhouses, on the exterior, according to officials.

Three townhouses total were damaged, according to the fire marshal. Two townhouses were considered a complete loss, while one sustained extensive damage, officials said.

There was $750,000 in structural damage, while $500,000 worth of items inside the homes were also lost, according to investigators.

Six adults and four children were displaced, officials said, of the three homes that were affected. All were being assisted by friends and family.

One firefighter had a minor injury and refused medical care, according to the fire marshal.
