Honoring Fallen Sheriff's Deputies: 6 Ways to Pay Tribute

Feb. 10 is an official Day of Remembrance in Harford County to honor Senior Deputy Patrick Dailey and Deputy First Class Mark Logsdon.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — County Executive Barry Glassman declared Feb. 10 a day of remembrance in Harford County to honor the supreme sacrifice that Senior Deputy Patrick Dailey and Deputy First Class Mark Logsdon made on Feb. 10, 2016.

Both deputies died in the line of duty in Abingdon. Dailey was following up on a tip about a man in the Panera in the 3400 block of Merchant Boulevard who was wanted. When the officer approached the individual, the man produced a gun and shot him. After Logsdon pursued the suspect to the nearby residential area, he was also shot and killed by the suspect, who subsequently died in a gunfight with deputies.

Here are some ways to show support for the fallen officers on Feb. 10:

  • At 11:45 a.m., personnel from the sheriff's office will gather near a memorial at the Boulevard at Box Hill for a remembrance.
  • Flowers and tributes have been left outside the Panera in memory of the fallen officers.
  • At noon, emergency sirens will sound around the county as the community reflects on the heroism of Dailey and Logsdon. All are invited to join in a moment of silence.
  • Also at noon, county employees will gather outside the government building in a show of solidarity. The building is being illuminated in blue lights.

  • There will be a special memorial service, open to the public, for the two deputies at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church. Father Thomas Allen arranged for speakers and music to pay tribute to the fallen at the church, located on MD 924/Emmorton Road at 1 St. Mary's Church Road in Abingdon.
  • Looney's will be donating 10 percent of all proceeds on Friday to the Benevolent Fund of the Harford County Sheriff's Office from sales at the pub at 312 South Main Street in Bel Air.
