5 Drivers Arrested at Harford DUI Checkpoint for Impairment: Police

The checkpoint set up near Joppa Friday night was one of six checkpoints statewide over the weekend, Maryland State Police reported.

JOPPA, MD — Authorities arrested five impaired drivers at a DUI checkpoint near Joppa over the weekend, Maryland State Police reported Monday.

Maryland state troopers and Harford County deputies worked the checkpoint, which had been announced.

Statewide, more than 70 impaired drivers were taken off the roads due to weekend enforcement initiatives, according to Maryland State Police. There were sobriety checkpoints set up in Allegany, Charles, Harford, Prince George's, Wicomico and Worcester counties over the weekend, police reported.
