5 Things: Lists of Gifts

Check out Patch's weekly "Lists of Gifts" column for ideas and inspiration to help you find the best presents from local stores.

Last week, Patch gave you a crash course in of successful and meaningful holiday shopping. But just in case you need some extra help, we've rounded up a few of the best gifts from local stores to spark your imagination a little more. Happy shopping!

1. "Holiday Pet Bell Collar" by Plush Puppies ($4.99)

  • Your furry best friend deserves the best, and The Mill has a great selection of gifts for a range of animals from birds to horses. This Santa-style collar was absolutely irresistible, and my pug Bella doesn't seem to mind it either (check her out in the photos, right).
  • Find it at: The Mill of Bel Air, 424 N. Main St.
  • Bonus: The Mill has a pet sale going until this Sunday that features 20 percent off toys, grooming items, treats, collars, leashes, and dog blankets.

2. "Drink Up" Brass Knuckle Mug ($10)

  • Let your coworker unleash her rebellious side during mandatory morning coffee with this edgy mug featuring brass knuckle grips.
  • Find it at: Macy's, 600 Baltimore Pike
  • Bonus: Doubles as a weapon. (Just kidding.) Macy's is open 8 a.m. to midnight from now until Saturday; on Sunday, it's open until 11 p.m.

3. "Game Set Match" Bracelets by Patricia Locke ($136)

  • You can never go wrong with anything that sparkles like these gorgeous bracelets from Two Sisters' best-selling artist Patricia Locke. They're handmade in the United States with sterling silver or 24-karat gold over pewter and set with Austrian crystals. And, since my mom is an owner of Two Sisters and I've worn many of the artist's designs, I can promise that they receive lots of compliments!
  • Find it at: Two Sisters Gallery, 328 S. Main St.
  • Bonus: Two Sisters offers complimentary gift-wrapping for every purchase using their signature brown and gold boxes with pretty, seasonal ribbons; also, plenty of free parking—a rare treat on Main Street!

4. Lilly Pulitzer Cocktail Shaker in "Shaken Up" or "Juice Bar" ($39.95)

  • For anyone who loves to entertain, these printed cocktail shakers are the perfect addition to a home bar. In two unmistakable prints by the famously preppy designer, your favorite hostess will love playing bartender when her martini-maker matches her dress.
  • Find it at: The Pink Silhouette, 20 E. Lee St.
  • Bonus: This adorably pink boutique isn't just a "great place for Lilly lovers;" make sure you also check out their great selection of designer denim. The Pink Silhouette also offers free parking.

5. Health Club Membership to the BAAC (various)

  • Memberships to any particular place (health clubs, dance studios, museums) do not fall into the "thoughtless gift-giving" category in which standard gift cards belong. For a spouse who has some very serious intentions to get healthier in the new year or for a child who's training to make a sports team, a membership to the Bel Air Athletic Club will be truly appreciated.
  • Find it at: The Bel Air Athletic Club, 658 Boulton Street
  • Bonus: The club is offering several holiday specials like $100 gift cards for only $89 or a free December if you join by December 16. Contact the club for information about specialized memberships for individuals, couples, seniors, students and young professionals.
