6 Hospitalized From Crash On I-95 In Harford County: Police
Police said charges are pending after the crash that caused a six-and-a-half-hour shutdown of Interstate 95 near MD 24.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD – Six people were hospitalized after a chain-reaction crash on Interstate 95 in Harford County Monday night, according to police. Officials said a tractor-trailer hit several vehicles, including another tractor-trailer, as it drove into a construction zone.
The crash resulted in a more-than-six-hour closure of northbound I-95, during which time police said traffic was diverted onto MD 24. The crash occurred before 11 p.m. Monday; the interstate reopened to northbound traffic by 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Based on the preliminary investigation, police said a white 2011 Volvo tractor pulling a 53-foot trailer filled with roof shingles caused the chain-reaction crash, which involved a total of five vehicles.

Investigators said that the tractor-trailer had been in the third lane from the left at mile marker 78. At mile marker 78.1, police reported it drove into a construction zone in the far left lane and hit other vehicles.
The driver of the tractor-trailer – John Terry Jr., 23, of Henderson, North Carolina – declined medical treatment at the scene, police said.

Two teenagers and four adults were hospitalized, authorities reported.
Police said these passenger cars were hit in the crash:
- A black 2008 Honda Civic – Driver Paul Manion, 39, of Belcamp, was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. His front-seat passenger Angela Manion, 37, of Belcamp, was taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. The back-seat passenger, a 14-year-old girl from Belcamp, was taken to the pediatric intensive care unit at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
- A white Nissan Sentra – Cierra Wilder, 23, of Havre de Grace, was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. She had been in the second-from-the-left lane on I-95 north past the MD 24 exit.
- A black Toyota Camry – Driver Carla Ortiz, 50, of Chesilhurst, New Jersey, was taken to Johns Hopkins for treatment. Her front-seat passenger, a 13-year-old girl from New Jersey, was taken to the pediatric intensive care unit at Johns Hopkins.
Another tractor-trailer, a white 2008 International truck tractor, was also hit in the crash, according to officials. Police said the driver of the 53-foot enclosed box trailer, Bruce Hurst, 62, of Runnemede, New Jersey, and his passenger, Lateesah Whitely, 27, both declined medical treatment.
All of the vehicles except the Sentra had been in the third-from-the-left lane before the crash, according to police.
Officials said Harford County emergency medical personnel handled the crash along with the Maryland State Police JFK Highway Barrack troopers, CRASH Team and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division.
Charges are pending, officials reported Tuesday.
