$750K Earmarked For Harford County's Environmental Health Division
Harford County Executive Bob Cassilly has earmarked $750K for staffing and new technology to help the environmental health division.
HARFORD COUNTY, MD — County Executive Bob Cassilly has announced $750,000 in supplemental funding for staffing for the Harford County Health Department's environmental health division and providing new technology to modernize the department's permit process.
“I am pleased to have signed an agreement between Harford County and the health department that will share the county’s e-permit software with the health department,” Cassilly said. “This technology will provide a streamlined process for residents and business owners to apply for permits and interact with the environmental health division of the health department, which issues permits related to wells, septic systems and food service establishments, for example."
The environmental health division oversees several programs pertaining to consumer protection including adoptive and foster care homes, air quality and solid waste, day cares and assisted living facilities, food facility inspections, camps, public pools, pet store inspections, tattooing and body piercing facilities, as well as land and water resources that include building permits, recreational water sampling, perc testing, water and wells and septic systems.
