911 Dispatcher Adopts Ambulance-Riding Kitten
A kitten rescued from a Harford County ambulance has been adopted by a 911 dispatcher.

A dispatcher for the Harford County 911 center answered a call for help recently by bringing the patient home.
Over the weekend, a concerned citizen called 911 to report that a kitten had crawled under an ambulance, according to the Harford County Department of Emergency Services.
But first responders could not find the kitty when they inspected the vehicle.

The ambulance—Medic 892—is a busy vehicle, tending to more than 1,000 calls for service, according to its operators at the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company.
The first responders went about their day and after the ambulance had traveled to several incidents, the kitten was heard meowing, Harford County emergency services personnel reported.

An animal control officer arrived and determined the kitten had been going for a ride-along atop the vehicle’s diesel tank, according to the report.
“Our 911 dispatcher Joy Clark, who was working at the time of the incident, came to the rescue and has given the little kitten a new fur-ever home,” according to the Harford County Department of Emergency Services.
Clark said she has since named the kitty “Diesel.”
County officials said the incident showcased what it means to be of service to others.
“Thank you to the Joppa Magnolia VFC, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office, Harford County Animal Control and Joy for showing once again the true spirit of a first responder,” the department said in a statement.
