Abingdon Credit Card Skimmers Sought: Sheriff
Do you know who these guys are? Authorities say they installed a device at an Abingdon ATM to steal personal info.
ABINGDON, MD – Two men are suspected in a recent credit card skimming scheme, according to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said that within hours of the pair allegedly installing a skimming device on the ATM at Wawa in the 3500 block of Woodsdale Road, officials were able to identify and remove it.
Card skimming is a crime that involves installing a device, which is often difficult to detect, that records account information when a card is swiped at an ATM. Criminals then use the data to access the victim’s bank account.

The pair went into the Abingdon convenience store at 8:05 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 6, and put the device on the machine, then left, the sheriff’s office reported.
Hours later the device was discovered, and now the sheriff’s office is asking for help identifying the men involved in the alleged skimming scheme.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Phillip Golden at 410-836-5430.
A cash reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information. To be eligible, tipsters must use one of the following methods for submitting tips: send a tip online through Harford County Sheriff’s Office; text the tip to Metro Crime Stoppers at 274637 with “MCS” plus the message; or call Harford Crime Solvers at 1-888-540-8477.
Tips to Avoid Being a Victim of Skimming
- Inspect the ATM to make sure nothing has been placed around the card reader that doesn’t belong there.
- Block visibility to the keypad while entering your pin so hidden cameras cannot see you enter it.
