Abingdon Panera Reopens After Deputy Deaths

Less than a week after a Harford County deputy was killed inside, the sheriff visited Panera as the restaurant opened for business.

ABINGDON, MD – The Panera where a deputy was killed last Wednesday reopened Tuesday morning, according to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler thanked employees and showed his support for the business by greeting workers Tuesday, the sheriff’s office reported.

The restaurant in the Boulevard at Box Hill shopping center closed Wednesday afternoon following the shooting of Deputy Patrick Dailey, 52, inside.

The shooter was killed nearby after he fatally shot a second officer, Deputy Mark Logsdon, 43.

After the shootings, mourners brought flowers to the Panera located on Merchant Boulevard and citizens including members of the sheriff’s office gathered for a vigil outside in the parking lot.
