Air Quality Alert Issued For 12 MD Counties Plus Baltimore
The air quality alert in Maryland takes effect Tuesday, July 27.

MARYLAND — Certain people may want to avoid strenuous activity or outdoor exercise Tuesday, July 27.
The Maryland Department of the Environment issued a code orange air quality alert that takes effect Tuesday for these areas:
- Anne Arundel County
- Baltimore City
- Baltimore County
- Calvert County
- Carroll County
- Cecil County
- Charles County
- Frederick County
- Harford County
- Howard County
- Montgomery County
- Prince George's County
- St. Mary's County
In addition, the District of Columbia and parts of northern Virginia are under the air quality alert.

The Maryland Department of the Environment declares air quality "code orange" when pollution concentrations may be unhealthy for sensitive groups.
Children, older adults, heart/lung disease sufferers and asthmatics are considered sensitive; to minimize the effects from the air quality, officials advise avoiding outdoor and strenuous activities.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 94. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon. Mostly clear, with a low around 72. Light and variable wind.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 92. A chance of showers and thunderstorms from 2 to 8 p.m Calm wind becoming west around 6 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. The evening will bring partly cloudy skies and a low of 71.
Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 89. Light and variable wind becoming southwest 5 to 9 mph in the morning. A chance of showers and thunderstorms from 2 to 8 p.m. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. Friday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 64.
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 85. Mostly clear, with a low around 66.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 89.
