Hundreds were transported to local hospitals, a city official said Wednesday morning after 10 a.m. First responders are on the scene and an investigation is ongoing.

“My heart aches for the passengers of Amtrak Train 188,” Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said in a statement Wednesday morning. “My prayers are with the families of those who lost their lives in this tragedy. We will support the recovery efforts in every way possible as authorities work to identity the cause of the crash.”

Several adjustments were made Wednesday to Amtrak schedules in the aftermath of the derailment.

All regular MARC Penn Line service will operate as scheduled on Wednesday, May 13.

Amtrak Trains 151 and 181 were canceled Wednesday morning. These trains honor MARC weekly and monthly passes from Perryville, Aberdeen, and Edgewood south to Baltimore and Washington. Passengers should plan on riding MARC Trains 517 or 523.

Modified Amtrak service will be provided Wednesday between Washington and Philadelphia, Harrisburg and Philadelphia, and New York and Boston. Check schedules on Amtrak.
