Bel Air Christmas Parade 2019 Canceled Because Of Weather

The town of Bel Air has canceled its Christmas parade set for Sunday because of poor weather.

BEL AIR, MD — Poor weather has forced organizers to cancel Sunday's 30th annual Christmas parade in Bel Air.

"We regret to inform you that the 2019 Bel Air Christmas Parade has been canceled due to the inclement weather. We value the safety of the visitors and parade performers, and the conditions would not make the experience pleasant," said Christopher Pineda, executive director of theBel Air Downtown Alliance, in an email.

The parade begins at 3 p.m. on Main Street at East Churchville Road, and it will proceed to Lee Street.

Miniature horses dressed as reindeer, marching bands, costumed characters, scouts, Santa and others will be among those participating.

After the parade, there will be free cookies and hot chocolate as well as a bonfire at Shamrock Park, followed by the tree lighting.

Here's the schedule of events for Sunday, Dec. 1:

  • 2:30 p.m.: Concert on Main Street near Office Street in front of the courthouse
  • 3:30 p.m.: Parade down Main Street to the end of Lee Street
  • 4:15 p.m.: Post-parade music, bonfire and refreshments in Shamrock Park
  • 5 p.m.: Tree lighting

The event is dependent on weather; if the parade is canceled, organizers say it will not be rescheduled. Check the forecast for Bel Air.
