Bel Air Downtown Alliance Announces Changes To Summer Schedule
As Gov. Hogan's Roadmap To Recovery plan goes into effect, the downtown alliance has been forced to modify or cancel certain summer events.
BEL AIR, MD – The Bel Air Downtown Alliance had a slate of summer activities planned, but as communities continue to deal with the coronavirus pandemic and based on the recommendations of Gov. Larry Hogan’s Roadmap to Recovery plan, local officials have been forced to adjust.
Downtown Alliance officials recently announced they regretfully must cancel or modify upcoming community events but do so as a way of keeping the community safe, they announced in a news release last week.
The alliance announced the cancellation of their First Friday events in June and July along with the group’s Main Street Social, which the group presents as a networking opportunity and Happy Hour all wrapped into one.

Despite canceling the First Friday events, the alliance urged local residents to celebrate the occasion in their own way by giving business to a local restaurant or brewery and then make a social media post with photos and using the hashtags #FirstFridaysMyWay and @downtownbelair.
The alliance also announced that its summer movie series will take place as a drive-in movie series beginning on June 26 and will take place at 121 S. Main. The first downtown movie night, scheduled for June 12, has been cancelled, officials announced in the news release. Tickets will be sold via EventBrite to allow officials to safely allow a specified number of participants.

The Belle Aire Market will also start this month beginning on Sunday, June 14. Like with other events going on around the community, the market will look different than it has in the past. The market will be limited to a single entrance and exit and will require visitors to wear face-coverings and will limit the number of people who are allowed inside the market at one time to allow for proper social distancing.
