Bel Air Gives Hero's Sendoff to Fallen Deputy

Citizens paid respects to Senior Deputy Patrick Dailey as his body traveled through Bel Air to funeral home.


BEL AIR, MD – Following an emotional funeral service for Senior Deputy Patrick Dailey, the officer was escorted by a motorcade from Joppa to Bel Air.

The procession from Mountain Christian Church traveled along MD 152 to US 1 to Main Street to Broadway before arriving at McComas Funeral Home.

Mourners lined the way to pay their respects, some saluting and others shedding tears, as Dailey’s body was taken to McComas Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon, one week after he was killed in the line of duty.

A Joppa man standing in the area of US 1 at Tollgate Road told The Aegis that Deputy Dailey, who was a life member of the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company, made his teenage son want to become a firefighter and policeman.

A woman on Main Street said that Deputy Dailey had changed her family member’s life as well—by arresting her husband for breaking a window and helping him turn his life around, she told Fox 45.
