Bel Air House Fire Sends 2 To Hospital: BAVFC

One firefighter also fell through a hole at the burning home, fire official reported.

BEL AIR, MD — Two people were reportedly hospitalized due to smoke inhalation from a house fire in Bel Air Sunday evening.

After 7 p.m., crews from Bel Air and surrounding areas responded to the 200 block of Wakely Terrace for a house fire, according to Rich Gardiner of the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company.

Smoke was showing from the back of the home when crews arrived. During the response, Gardiner said one firefighter fell through a hole in the floor of the home but was uninjured and continued in the firefight.

Within 30 minutes, officials said that the blaze was declared under control.

Two people were taken to a local hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening, according to Gardiner, who said the damage to the residence was extensive.

Disaster assistance personnel were reportedly helping the owners of the home.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
