Bel Air Police Boogie In Lip Sync Battle

Bel Air police and officers-in-training showcased their skills and challenged others in Harford to take the lip sync challenge.

BEL AIR, MD — The Bel Air Police Department has accepted the lip sync challenge. Officials released a video this week showing school resource officers, young officers-in-training and McGruff the crime dog putting to the test their lip syncing and line dancing skills.

For the last month, law enforcement agencies around the country have been challenging one another to a lip sync battle in what's turned out to be a fun exercise not just for them but observers as well. The videos have shown a softer side to police.

Officers Rick Krause and Nick Rhodes led Explorer Post 9010 in their rendition of Brook & Dunn's "Boot Scootin' Boogie."

The toe-tapping and boot-scooting video is "raising awareness for the lighter side of law enforcement," according to the Bel Air Police Department.

"We challenge all Harford County law enforcement agencies to this challenge," the Bel Air Police said.

The Havre de Grace Police Department released a video of one of its members lip syncing "Ice, Ice Baby" by Vanilla Ice at the Maryland Special Olympics last month.

The Harford County Sheriff's Office reports its lip sync video is "in the works," after a number of requests, and it asked the community to provide input about song selection.

There's no telling what other lip-synced songs might emerge from this epic battle, but one thing's for sure: These are truly arresting performances.
