Bel Air Police Officer Injured In Crash: Officials

Police said that a Bel Air Police Department vehicle was involved in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday on US 1 at MD 24.

BEL AIR, MD — An officer with the Bel Air Police Department suffered minor injuries Wednesday night after getting into a crash on US 1 at MD 24, police said. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

At 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, police said that the officer was turning left from US 1 south onto MD 24 south to stop a vehicle for a red light violation.

The patrol vehicle collided with another vehicle, driven by a 64-year-old Texas man, who was not injured, according to authorities.

The officer was taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries, police said.

Maryland State Police is investigating the cause of the crash, along with the Bel Air Police Department.

It was the second incident in which an officer was injured in Harford County on Wednesday.
