Bel Air Santas: Police Give Gifts to Families, Homeless
Kindness from police and the community helped make the holiday better for those in need in Bel Air.
BEL AIR, MD — Police in Bel Air said they made a list and checked it twice while shopping for local families for the holiday. Officers recently went on a spree at Toys R Us and Target to buy gifts for two local families, with support from the Explorers program.
"With the overwhelming generosity of a local business, our officers were able to check off nearly every item on the lists of these families," the Bel Air Police Department said in a statement.
One Target shopper who overheard what police were doing even reached into his pocket and handed them $40 in cash in the store, officials said.

That was not the only random act of kindness observed this week involving police. A citizen shared on Facebook that while he was getting a cup of coffee at 7-Eleven, he saw a Bel Air policeman giving a homeless man boots and clothing to help him stay warm in the cold.
Said the citizen: "This is what Christmas is all about."
