Bel Air Turns Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness
Town partners with Upper Chesapeake Foundation to support cause.

Bel Air has gone “pink” to raise awareness about breast cancer. And in addition to pink decor around town, several events are coming up—like a cut-a-thon—to support the cause.
The town of Bel Air has partnered with the Upper Chesapeake Health Foundation to “Paint the Town Pink,” meaning residents can expect to see specials and events at local businesses through October, which is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Here are the “pink” events happening around Bel Air this month:

- 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19—Cut-A-Thon at Bang! The Salon in Bel Air
- 3 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25—Meteor Music Festival and Barn Dance at Starlight Farm in Monkton
- 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 27—Cut-A-Thon at The Hair Network in Fallston
- Friday, Oct. 31—Let’s Bust Cancer Bra Event silent auction closes at Barely Used Consignments in Bel Air
- Saturday, Nov. 1—Bra Counting Party at Plaza Ford in Bel Air
- 8 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2—Janet’s 5K Run/Walk for Healing by Sephora in Perryman
Throughout the month of October, drop off bras to Plaza Ford or ShopRite stores; for every bra collected,Katie Walls’ Bras for a Cause will donate $1 to the Kaufman Cancer Center.
Also all month long, get $10 pink extensions at NVS Salon in Bel Air, with 100 percent of proceeds going to the Kaufman Cancer Center.

On Wednesdays, Magerk’s will donate 10 percent of your check to the charity of your choice. It is also offering a “Keep the Pint Pynk” beer from 6 p.m. to close. For every Pynk beer purchased, the restaurant will donate $2 to breast cancer research and awareness.
All events are designed to raise awareness about breast cancer and provide donations for the Kaufman Cancer Center in Bel Air, which opened in 2013 to provide cancer treatment. Funds also go to the Cancer LifeNet program, which supports families of cancer patients.
