John Carroll Student Dies After Crash On Route 22
BREAKING: Police confirmed a boy died after a serious crash on MD 22 Thursday morning; two other people were hospitalized, officials said.

CHURCHVILLE, MD — A boy died as the result of a two-vehicle crash in Harford County Thursday morning, according to Maryland State Police.
Officials said the boy from North East succumbed to his injuries at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center at 11:45 a.m.
The juvenile was trapped and had to be rescued from the wreck, which police said occurred at 7:44 a.m. on Churchville Road/MD 22 in the area of MD 155.

Police said the boy was in the front passenger seat of a white Volvo 850 driven by Mark Peterson of North East that failed to yield to oncoming traffic while turning left.
According to officials, Peterson was turning left to go to Royal Farms when the Volvo collided with a gray Ford Explorer driven by N’Gai Naamone Lincoln JR of Havre de Grace. The Explorer was headed west on Churchville Road.

Both drivers were taken to area hospitals and so was the boy, police said.
First responders worked to free the youth, who suffered serious, life-threatening bodily injuries, and took him to Upper Chesapeake, police said. He was airlifted from Upper Chesapeake to shock trauma, where he later died.

The deceased was a student at the John Carroll School, according to The Aegis, which reported the school was holding a prayer vigil in his memory at 6:30 p.m. Thursday on the baseball field.
John Carroll School canceled Friday's classes.
According to WJZ, the student was a star baseball player who was beloved by the school community.

EARLY DISMISSAL AND CLOSURE: Due to the unfortunate passing of a student, The John Carroll School will close at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 2. Classes are also cancelled on Friday, March 3. This cancellation includes the Senior Retreat. School will be open tomorrow for anyone who needs support and assistance. The Varsity basketball game scheduled for today has been moved to tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. at John Carroll.
